Press Release Body: San Jose, Costa Rica - October 10, 2008 -- (Express Press Release) The World Series of Poker Europe and European Poker Tour London events have been the talk of the poker world over the past few weeks. Now, the attention shifts thousands of miles westward. The Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls, Canada will play host to the World Poker Tour's North American Poker Championship. It's a tournament that is popular with younger poker players because of Canada's lower legal gambling age. In the fray at Fallsview will be Court Harrington, Tournament Reporter for PocketFivesLive.com, which provides coverage of online poker players in the biggest live tournaments. Harrington just returned from to London, where PocketFiver Scott "emptyseat88" Fischman finished sixth in the WSOP Europe Main Event.
PocketFivers have dominated recent live poker tournaments. Michael "Martine23" Martin took down the EPT London event, outlasting a field of 596 entrants en route to a GBP1 million payday. Eric "p3achy_keen" Liu, who is an instructor for popular poker training site CardRunners, finished fourth in that tournament. PocketFiver Vivek "Psyduck" Rajkumar won the WPT Borgata event and Amit "amak316" Makhija took second in the WPT Legends of Poker tournament, banking $563,320.
In last year's North American Poker Championship, PocketFivers finished 1-2: Scott "BigRiskky" Clements took home the first place prize of $1.4 million and defeated Jonathan "FieryJustice" Little heads-up; the runner up pocketed $715,000. PocketFiver Barry "barryg1" Greenstein and Jeff "ActionJeff" Garza also reached the six-handed final table, finishing fourth and sixth, respectively. This year's tournament boasts a buy-in of $10,300 CAD. The first of three starting days kicks off on Friday with Day 1A and the tournament plays down to a champion on Thursday, October 16th.
For those players who are headed to Fallsview, coverage on PocketFivesLive.com is completely free. It's a great way to let friends and family back home know what's going on. To sign up, visit PocketFivesLive.com, home of the best WPT coverage.
